Do you have project pro 2007 installed on the same machine you are trying to
edit the calendar with? Certain edits done in PWA>Server Settings...
require the client to be opened in order to make the changes in the global.
Calendars and Custom Formulas fields for example.

I am getting the exact same error message when I try to save an Enterprise
Calendar. I have MS Project Professional 2007 installed and it is connected
to the server. When I click "New Calendar", Project Professional 2007
launches and I can enter dates in a new calendar. But when I try to save the
calendar I get the error message "The operation could not be performed as it
requires Microsoft Office
Project Professional 2007.Make sure that Project is installed on this
machine and that a profile to this server exists."

Any ideas what could cause this?

Thanks.

Does the URL you used in the Project Server account for the Project Client
exactly match the URL you are using to access PWA? A mismatch here can cause
this error.

Problem is resolved now. The URL was pointing at a sandbox server (with
different permissions setup) instead of the live server.

Thanks.

Hi,

I'm refering to the same problem. I can't open the enterprise calendar and
I'm getting the same error.
I've checked the URL and I have the same on my server as on my client machine.
http://srv-pb-project2:20088/pwa

I'm using the MS Project version 12.0.6213.1000 SP1

My colleague can access the calendar. He has the same connection information
and the same MS project version. Do I need to change something in my
environment (IE 7?), Vista?

Any new ideas?

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks and looking forward to hear from you.

I have installed MS project professional 2010 and Project Server 2010 on my system. Now i am gonna access Enterprise calendars of my old PWA (which is on Project server 2007 and Project Professional 2007) from project server 2010. I have already added the profile of my old pwa to MS project server 2010 accounts. Now when i click on Edit button of any enterprise Calendars the following message displays:

"the operation couldnt be performed as it requires MS office project professional 2007. Make sure that project is installed on this machine and that a profile to this server exist. If project is currently running, ensure that it is logged on to this server and that there is no dialogue open"

and when i go to MS Project 2010 and try to login through this account following error message displays:

"No permissions to read Project Server Enterprise Global file. The project server enterprise global file couldnt be accessed. Contact your admin.."

Although i have given the administrator rights on my system to the user through which i am accessing this pwa. and that user is already is an administrator.

Please help me out
